PHARMBLUE Our original pharmacy was founded more than 13 years ago, in a small farming community called Evans City, north of Pittsburgh, PA. Shim Sacks, the founder, was involved in a research project studying patients with HCV. Many of these patients struggled to gain access to healthcare. Shim and his family started a pharmacy on the family farm, in a converted chicken coop, to help take care of these patients. Every day, they would deliver needed medications to these patients all over the Pittsburgh area. The pharmacy gained a loyal following. Because of the focus on HCV, the pharmacy staff became expert in not only the treatment of HCV, but of commonly related conditions. Many of these patients had coinfections of HIV and an almost equal number had multiple diagnosed behavioral health conditions. We have never forgotten our roots. Today, we continue to focus on the needs of patients with multiple chronic conditions.
